His will

1.Go into all the world and unto all nations

2.Preach the gospel to all people

  • He that believeth and is baptized will be saved
  • He that believeth not will be damned
  • When this is complete, the end shall come

And these signs shall follow them that believe:
  • In Jesus name they will cast out devils
  • They will speak with new tongues
  • If they take up serpents they will not hurt them
  • If they drink any deadly thing it will not hurt them
  • They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover

Taste and See

"O taste and see that the LORD is good:

blessed is the man that trusteth in him."

- Psalm 34:8

Some things just have to be experienced. Like how do you describe the way strawberries taste to someone that has never tasted? You just have to taste them. Some people know alot about the Lord, but have never had that "know so" experience. I can know every ingredient and make up of strawberry ice cream... be an expert strawberry grower and the best dairy farmer... and know everything there is to know about making ice cream... and still never know how strawberry ice cream taste! That's how I want to know my Lord, like the guy eating a gallon of strawberry ice cream. The best part is, as the scripture says, you won't be disappointed after you have experienced him in that way... you'll see that he is Good!!!

Did Jesus fail?

"And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching" -Mark 6:5-6

[4] things that I want to point out
1. He could do no mighty work because of the disbelief of the people> the lack of their faith tied his hands. It was his will to do mighty works.
2. He marvelled or was amazed at their disbelief > not upset
3. He did not quit. Whether or not the people received him didn't change the fact that he was to obey his Father's will. He wasn't controlled by success, but led by God's will.
4. He went about TEACHING. Faith was what they were lacking. Faith begins where the will of God is known.

More for Monday

"And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended." - Mark 4:16-17

-Why do they "have no root in themselves"? Well, have you ever sown seed on top of the soil? If a light rain comes... the seed will sprout out and try to attach itself to the ground. Usually, what happens is the seed is either ruined or washed away. The Word is Seed [Luke 8:11]. The early stages of growth can be seen even if there are no roots. You get the point.
- Notice that it didn't say "if affliction or persecution ariseth" but says "when affliction or persecution ariseth". It's not a matter of if, but when... especially when you have received the Word.
- Persecution vs. Affliction
*Persecution comes from another person. Persecution is rooted in disbelief and is contrary to the Word of God.
*Affliction comes from the enemy himself. Affliction is also rooted in disbelief and too contrary to God's Word.

A Word in Season

"And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you." -Luke 17:6

Thank God for the Behrman's that ministered at our church yesterday. They will be here through Wednesday night. What a blessing! Last night he talked about being offended and being delivered from old offences and hurts. Read Luke 17 @ http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/index.php?search=luke%2017&version1=9 . It talks about being offended, hurt and so on. Rev. Behrman explained what Jesus was talking about with the sycamine tree.
1. The sycamine tree grew in hard, dry ground. This symbolizes someones heart who has been hurt. Usually, when you stray away from God's will it is much easier to get offended because your heart is hardened.
2. The wood from the sycamine tree is a preferred wood for caskets. Sometimes, old and past hurts can be detrimental to your growth in the Lord, and your happiness, and your health.
3. The roots of this tree run abnormally deep. Just like it is when you get hurt... the roots may run deep. The longer the offence stays with you, the deeper the roots grow.
4. The fruit from the tree seems edible or useable but isn't.This symbolizes the front that we sometimes put up so that everything seems ok. You can tell the tree by it's fruit.
- The jist of the story is that when we let ourselves be offended, we harm ourselves. Jesus said that it would take Faith to uproot it. He also said that Faith comes by hearing the Word, not having heard, but constantly hearing. Therefore, through faith in God's Word we can uproot offences and forgive. Thank God for a Word in season.
