On the shoulders of Giants
"
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."
-Sir Isaac Newton
"
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us"
Heb 11:40-12:1
I thought I would share this quote with you along with the scripture that it brings to mind. In our lifetime God has given us several giants on which we can stand upon their shoulders... not to mention them that are in His Word. Great men and women of God that have taught us the unchangeable, life giving Word of God. Great is their reward on earth and in heaven.
"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.""Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty"2 Cor 3:5-6,17
* Our abundance is found in God, And we having no lack in anything...do abound in every good work according to the grace that is given to us. 2 Cor 9:7-8 says that when we GIVE as He gives... then he is able to make this happen in our lives.
* He has made us able ministers of the New Covenant... "I give you a new commandment, that you Love one another as I have Loved you". We must receive Love from him before we can Love like him. There is no way to give something that you have not received... unless you are God... because He is Love >>> He gave us a part of him.
* The Spirit, God's Spirit, gives life. Real life. Life is just like Love. You can't create it yourself. I'm not talking about making a baby... of course you can do that... but only God can give someone "Zoe"... or His Life. The same Life that he imparted into Adam before thet fall of man.
Christianity is Debt
"Owe no man any thing,
but to love one another:
for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."
Romans 13:8
If you are a Christian, then you will never be out of debt... that is the debt of Love. You owe everyone Love. God want's you to be free of all debts except that debt to Love people. Love doesn't cost a thing except maybe a little bit of pride. This will be hard for some to understand, but we have the mind of Christ!
