On the shoulders of Giants

"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."
-Sir Isaac Newton

"God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us"
Heb 11:40-12:1

I thought I would share this quote with you along with the scripture that it brings to mind. In our lifetime God has given us several giants on which we can stand upon their shoulders... not to mention them that are in His Word. Great men and women of God that have taught us the unchangeable, life giving Word of God. Great is their reward on earth and in heaven.

Learn To Obey, Know Success

"And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab."
- Numbers 22:20-21

There are principles of success that you just don't hear about very much. Like obedience. All we ever hear about is how somebody did it their way and became a success. First, you must define success. I believe that you are successful when you have obeyed God... period. When you obey him, the things that you do and the moves that you make are never aimless... but always have a purpose and part in His plan for you. Whether you are a Christian or not... you know within you heart that there is existence after death. True success will benefit you throughout eternity... Not just until you have finished retirement.

Balaam disobeyed God. God said to go with the men unto Balak only if they called upon him or came to him... instead... Balaam went ahead without waiting for them. The end result was not good. God ended up having to speak through Balaam's donkey to get him to pay attention. The King James version actually says "ass"... I must think on this for just a second... How many times has God had to speak through an ass to me? Too many times. Most people just wait for God to do something like he did to Balaam before they will listen... they want a sign. God never intended us to be led by signs... he want's to speak into your spirit. This act of disobedience from Balaam almost cost him his life.

The next time God gets to you through a sign or a circumstance... take the opportuniy to realize that you have missed His guidance somewhere along the line. God isn't playing chirades with you, your body, or nature. If He want's you to know something... he will speak to you first.

"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."
"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty"
2 Cor 3:5-6,17

* Our abundance is found in God, And we having no lack in anything...do abound in every good work according to the grace that is given to us. 2 Cor 9:7-8 says that when we GIVE as He gives... then he is able to make this happen in our lives.
* He has made us able ministers of the New Covenant... "I give you a new commandment, that you Love one another as I have Loved you". We must receive Love from him before we can Love like him. There is no way to give something that you have not received... unless you are God... because He is Love >>> He gave us a part of him.
* The Spirit, God's Spirit, gives life. Real life. Life is just like Love. You can't create it yourself. I'm not talking about making a baby... of course you can do that... but only God can give someone "Zoe"... or His Life. The same Life that he imparted into Adam before thet fall of man.

Christianity is Debt

"Owe no man any thing,

but to love one another:

for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."

Romans 13:8

If you are a Christian, then you will never be out of debt... that is the debt of Love. You owe everyone Love. God want's you to be free of all debts except that debt to Love people. Love doesn't cost a thing except maybe a little bit of pride. This will be hard for some to understand, but we have the mind of Christ!
