Revealed by his Spirit

1 Cor 2:9
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. "

Most people stop here. We say "you just never know about what God will do". I've heard this scripture quoted a million times, in the context that God is hiding our future from us. It makes head sense... but not much sense when it comes to our spirituality. I thought that he impregnates us with purpose...? Read on...

v10-14
  • But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
  • For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
  • Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
  • Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
  • But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Monday's headlines

1John3:1-3
- Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
- Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
- And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

"Sons of God": Have we comprehended this yet? Really?
"the world knoweth us not": Literally, the people of the world can't understand or perceive that we are the children of God.
"we shall be like him": This is when our mortality takes on immortality. Corruption is swallowed up by incorruption. Jesus didn't have a natural body until he came to this earth. That's when he took on the corruptible body. Right now, 07/25/2005, Jesus has a body that was once mortal but has been changed into a glorified, incorruptible body. When he returns, the dead in Christ will rise and receive their immortal body, then the church will be raptured and receive immortality.
"this hope in him": This hope, literally 'this earnest expectation', purifies himself. This expectation is in your heart, in your spirit, by the Holy Ghost. That's how we know that we are children. That's how we know that we have destiny and purpose... by the Love of God that is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.
