After God's own heart
Last night at Covenant Faith, our Pastor started a new Wednesday night series called
"Becoming a man and woman after God's own heart". It was really awesome. It was one of those where the church gets "cloudy"... and everything inside of you just wants to shout for joy. He's gonna use David alot in this series... and David was the only talked about more in the Bible than anyone except Jesus. He showed us the scriptures that reveal to us that we don't have to have a perfect life to have a perfect heart. One scripture is over in John 4 where Jesus told the woman at the well that God seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. I did a little study about 2 years ago to find out what God seeks, what He longs for and goes after... Well, He loves a pure heart that is turned towards Him. One scripture over in Matthew says that "many are called or invited, but few are chosen". That isn't talking about salvation b/c anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved if he believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth that Jesus is the Son of God. Smith Wigglesworth said something like this "God will pass over a million people to get to that one who has faith"... something like that. He loves our worship, and He will run to those who run to Him. Why? He's already done everything that He possibly could, and has given us every opportunity to come to Him... or in other words "the ball is in our court". My Pastor was talking with me the other day and he told me something that has really blown my mind, he said "I don't want to be just a knowledgeable Pastor, I want to be a supernatural Pastor that can go beyond the natural and really meet people's needs... really speak directly to them". That's awesome, alot of Pastors wouldn't have any idea what he just said! He said last night that as the Pastor of Covenant Faith, he would not be satisfied with the "status quo", and that he was not gonna let his people be satisfied with it. I love that. We want all of God that he is willing to give us. All of Him. We want His presence to be so heavy in our lives that it gushes over... like the fishing boats when Jesus told Peter to cast their nets... God just kept pouring them in til they couldn't take any more... then He just kept giving and giving til the ships almost sunk! The whole time I'll bet He just sat back and laughed! If they had the glory cloud under the old covenant... then why can't we have at least that now?!?!! We haven't scratched the surface of what God wants to do through us. Church services where people that have dealt with problems for twenty years... are delivered right there... in an instant... better is one day in is presence than a thousand elsewhere!
All Grace
2 Cor 9:8
Thank You Lord for causing grace to abound towards my wife and I! We are so blessed! Thank You for giving us all sufficiency in all things, and thank You for always causing us to triumph! Thank You for Your goodness, Your faithfulness, and Your Love. Thank You for giving us hope, and expectation of our future. Thank You that Your mercy was, is, and always will be with us. Thank You for Wisdom. Thank You for answers, for showing us the way. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the Holy Spirit that leads us in the way of Your will, in the path of understanding and peace. Thank You that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Thank You for taking on our sins, taking the curse upon your body so that we wouldn't have to bear it in ours. Thank You for divine health. Thank You Father that we will never have a need that you won't meet and exceed. Thank You for letting us be Your children so that we might call you Father. Thank You for the secret things... the unexplainables, unmentionables... the supernatural. Thank You for everything you've done and are doing. I just simply love You and thank You!
The Key to Life
"I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another.By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves]."
John 13:34-35 amp
"Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves]."
Phillipians 2:3 amp
This is it. This is the pathway to living life to it's fullest.
1. Loving one another, just as Christ Loves us
2. Esteeming others better than ourselves
My pastor has been teaching on Love for the past couple of months. It hasn't been what you would normally hear in the pulpit. I've never heard it taught like he has taught it. Very well rounded, real, and tough. It's something that we all need to hear, though. It's tough to walk in Love - and it's tough to regard some people as superior to ourselves. Jesus did it... He said that he came to serve or minister, not to be served and ministered to. As Pastor said it, we will never learn to serve others unless we esteem them as higher than ourselves. Makes sense... a servant is not above his master. I don't know who said this, but we have it posted in our church office, "We work to make a living, We give to make a life".
God Bless!
